the idle emulsion tubes need to be richer if it has a flat spot as they give it progression from idle to main jets and big jets just foul up plugs if idle to long if you can get some 7850.2 tube you will find it will make it more drivable at low rpm

MLS do u mean even though it idols alright it still might be the idol jets and air correctors that might be suspect?

Don't think the idle jets would be too big if it is idling OK with the the mixture screws out 2 turns, but it could be the idle air correctors being too small.
I'd also take the screw out that covers the 2 progression circuit holes and make sure the holes are not damaged or, dare I say it, been drilled out.

Have you actually seen this carby work properly on a car?
Was it yours?

By the way, fix the leak you mentioned it had before you go any further with trying to get it running right.

This website seems to have some decent info for you to look at, about 1/3 off th way down the page it starts to explain what happens in the carby at different stages of operation. Hope it helps.
Dellorto info

The numbers arent there so Im stuck.

I will ring CSC and ask them if they know what tubes they are, they should know because they fully recoed it for the aplication.

The fuel leak is coming from the pump jet Cover on one side I think its just a washer that needs replacing. (will do tomorow)

Will check all the other things that were mentioned as well. I will let you know as soon as I know.

I assume that the accelerator pump is working Cause I spent $355 getting all that stuff checked.

Will read the dellorto info soon thanks MLS and everyone else that has replied.

How will I know if the progression drillings have been drilled out?

No i havent seen this carb working on another car (MLS) I bought them as a pair of my mates boss. Since then one has been serviced and suposedly jetted for the aplication.

I read the dellorto info and its too late to do anything now but round two tomorow.
I think first I will fix the leak first like someone said then go from there.

Thanks so far everyone.

OK I fixed the fuel leak (much better now) and now whilst driving I can get around 1/4 throttle then the carb starts to make a sound similar to an old VW beetles high pitched exhaust noise (not as loud) and drops in performance a bit till about 1/2 throttle then it hits a dead spot so I just progress to 3/4 throttle - full throttle where it pulls away just like normal.

Because it gets to 1/4 - 1/2 throttle before it hits a flat spot I am thinking its not an idol or progression problem but more a main jet assembley, accelerator pump or one of the other 500 things it could be.

Does this sound right?

Will a dead spot occur if it is too lean?
Maybe the sound comin from the carby is the mixture leaning out but not leaning out enough to backfire through the carby causing like mini backfires or something or maybe my imagination has got the better of me!!!!!! LOL
