Pro....it might be a race engine, but I don't know too many racers who like to rebuild their engines more than once a year....some do, but not many ;)

And Harry's spot on......you have to be consistant to win championships.

Is this an ad for an engine builder who will build a 200 hp engine for $2000 or an ad for a used 200 hp engine that he has in the shed and wants to get rid of?

I know it is possible to have a 200hp A series
it would need 50mm throttle bodies, autronic/motec ecu, monster ports and massive valves, monster roller cam, and roller rockers, 1600cc capacity, a knife edged crank and a moly flywheel.
BIg big bucks...maybe 10 grand. but it is doable.

To be honest.... I just don't think a RELIABLE 200 hp is feasable out of a n/a A series engine running on premium pump fuel, I've done everthing converted has prescribed (except I'm running 40mm throttle bodies) and I've just recently had the car dyno'd and I did not reach the 200hp mark....came close!
Have spoken to Jeff Taylor about my results and he says my engine and Johns are very similar in performance figures, His is set up for circuit and mine is set up for rally.
If I was to run a higher comp. ratio and ELF I think I would come pretty close.

To all you people that keep talking about MY 200hp a15 should be talking to me as i built it and has been running sprints and hillclimbs for the last year and is due for a rebuild shortly.
Jonathan lane of fast lane automotive in nerang did all the tuning and dyno work so you could verify horse power with him,and stop talking so much rubbish

Why not put up some specs & pics of what you have done to it. I would like to see them cos it sounds interesting & i would like to see what you have done to get that sort of power non turbo.

First of Vixen let me do what other have not done......Welcome to you and your husband Greg to the Datsun 1200 site.

It appears to me from the onset that you and Greg are very knowledgeable about Datsun motor's more specifically the a-series motor, please don't let some of the comments posted by other members put you of participating in future posts. I have to admit though that you have introduced yourself with a pretty bold statement......200hp from a n/a a-series is a tall order, not impossible I admit.
Maybe if you filled in some of the gaps and shared with us the accessories ie carburation, ignition and type of computer it might keep some of the wolves at bay.....so to speak.

I would love to no what bolt ons it has. You are write Dr Datto there are alot of gaps that need to be filled. Know body realy knows anything about this motor. For all we know it might have 200 horse. But if i was buying it i would be seeking proof. Like an inderpendent engine dyno.
