This is out of a C20 Vanette(Import) Drum to drum its 1420 mm and the diff on Monty is 1300mm, so I dont think that it will fit!!

So your saying that the C20 van diff is a full 120mm wider than a H165 from a ute? Thats just unacceptable

You know that I dont have a ute diff in Monty, its just the std 1200 one!!!!

Hey CA18, thanks for the heads up on the 620 diff. Will investigate this option for the new car ! The H190 I have with a 4.6 alloy centre has H165 axles Good to hear I can find a 29 spline in the same ratio
Cheers

They come in tray back ute back and also king cab. late 60s to mid 70's they where made. A bit of work required to fit them. The pinion angle is way out, the axles need to be machined down in diameter and restuded to 4 stud. (6 stud standard) I cut the drum brakes off with a large angle grinder as they are a really strange setup to get off.

Cheers for that Andrew, but are you also saying that there are a few mods to make this 620 diff fit, like the chopping off of the old drums??

Thats what Im saying. Its not a bolt in job you will have to cut the spring saddles off and relocate to get the pinion angle right.
I suppose you could use the standard drum brake rear they are very large heavy looking things and a six stud pattern. I converted mine to disc brake rear. There are some picture of mine being modified on here somewhere.
620 ute axles
compared to 1200 ute axles

disc brakes on 620 diff
