according to this http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=3339
they came out with a four cylinder??(this is the 140j, i wouldn't have a clue what the differences are compared to a 160j) and we never got them in australia.

apparently dattodevil (from new zealand) had one though, so maybe they're the ones you want to talk to??

Are you sure? I thought the 160J was a 710?

BTW - there's a cool write-up on these in this months Rally Sport magazine. I'll scan it if the demand is high...

yeah thats the 160j i mean. is there anymore info around regarding this project.

Seems like it would have been done alot, Because of the room in the engine bay to fit a big engine.

Hmmm.. that's a tough one, N4E because we didn't get them here in Australia.
A few were privately imported but that was about it. New Zealand got them I think?

TnPshow..mate.

The Nissan4Ever dude said that bighatmat got it right. It's not the cool 160J that the rest of us know.

We got the A10 in Australia. It was the Stanza.

The Stanza engine bay is not much bigger than a Datsun 1600 (510/Bluebird). I don't think you will easily fit a 6 cylinder L-series in a Stanza (A10). It could be made to fit, with a big hole made in the firewall, As I have seen done in a L28E installed in a 510 2 door sedan at Shasta in 1999.

Actually, the A10 does have more room if you modify the rad support. On the old 510 you don't gain anything by modding the rad support cause the grill is in the way, but the A10 has ~15cm of empty space to fill up with an L6. So no messing with the firewall/heater.

Remember the 710 & A10 (Stanza) are both Violet's in Japan and 140j/160j models respectively.

The picture of the maroon 710 is my pic, incidentally.

The 160J coupe was the australian stanza coupe.

The 1973 - 1977 140 and 160J's Mark 1 and 2 were the 710 in the US and Violets in Japan and some other markets.

The 1978 - 1979 140 and 160J's Mark 3 models were the 510/A10 in the US and stanza in Australia. In other markets it was called an Auster?? and in Japan a Violet.
