My short experience with racing A series is that a hi - volume pump is unecessary in an A series...but a cooler is.
I run an oil cooler and have no probs with oil temp or pressure. And Im running a 250hp rated cooler too!

yeah I think we're talking about the same thing. The L series gear is taller as it were so the pump housing needs to be taller to hold the new gears. Souds pretty simple, I don't have a lathe... so that will be interesting but i understand what to do.
We have a website here where you can send in cad drawings and they make the part and send it back, not too expensive for something like this... I think i'll have to try it.

Thanks for the info!

Is there any demand for the spacer to do this conversion? I could get some made to sell.

Better yet, are there any hi volume pups for the a15 already made?

What I meant was use the Lseries pump gears in the A series pump boby. Because the L series gears are thicker you will need to part off part of another a series pump body in a lathe and assemble with a gasket either side of the spacer section. Does that make sense?

PS I haven't done this, Ive only read it here.

Do you really need a hi volume oil pump?
The standard oil pump on the a-series does a great job!

So after I get the L series oil pump, I take that pump apart to get the internals of the pump and those replace the a series internals, the L series internals are thicker and will require a spacer to be made for the pump cover? Is that correct?

more pics soon as i tear down the a series oil pump.

interesting... i just happen to have several spare a series oil pumps. Hmmm just have to find a new l series pump.

Anyone have a how -to? or will I be writing one?
I found a new Lseries oil pump for $44 So I'll be getting one of those to experiment with. I have a dead A15 oil pump., so I'll take that one apart first to see how this goes together, then I'll do it with the good pumps once I understand what i am doing.

I don't have an oil cooler, but I hear the cheap way to get a high volume oil pump is to get some L series pump gears and turn off a spacer from a spare A series pump body and then reassenble the a series pump with the l series guts.

Wasn't there a high volume oil pump for the A15? What do you guys use with your oil coolers?
