Is this a 120Y or 1200SSS?
Re the reshell to put things into perspective I doubt if there would be an original BDA Escort in the country- they all have been reshelled, many more than once yet the reputed going price at the moment is supposedly in excess of $100000 and thats if you could find someone who would sell you one. I believe that whilst the SSS is no BDA to a certain extent they are cast in the same mould ( especially considering all the factory options that were available for them to turn them into a real little weapon) and therefore a figure considerably above the top bid of $7000 would not be out of the way for either a good 110 or 120, and wether or not its still got original aircleaners really means didely squat. The times are changing and these special little cars are simply not around anymore and if people want one then they need to get their chequebooks out and start crossing the owners palm with bulk silver! Cheers

Thats a good point about what model car it is derived from....I know of several 120Y SSS's that were stripped and rebuilt into the more desirable 1200 shell. I have also seen a SSS coupe and ute that have been created from genuine cars....The Escort scenario is a funny one isn't it, the famous "780" cars have all been reshelled , reengined, newer style cages and fresh suspension and they are still the "genuine " item....

Shiit with a set of dellorto's I could turn monty into a SSS as I have everything to make him into one, but I will not as its just not right and it takes it away from the genuine item.

i received a reply from Dennis Marwood about the air cleaners
"We had a box type filter housing made locally to fit an oval RYCO filter, I think it was the element that was made as OE for the 240 Z." there's the answer
