A mate of mine had a thing for ex taxi's he bought or found an ex melbourne xe falcon man he loved that car.
He spent 3 years restoring it,no amount of money was to much for his pride and joy.
From memory he spent about 30 grand.
But in the end an ex cab is an ex cab,he got $6500 when he sold it.

ex-taxis are like gambling...

it could sh!t itself straight away or give you years of joy(?), like my ma's EB falcon ex-taxi. we got it, painted it, put new second-hand engine in it, licensed it, drove it, motor died, put a new one in, fuel pump broke, put new one in. in the end the tranny was fuc!ed, probably cos of all the burnouts we did in it. still got more than we paid for it when we sold it, and thats including the new engine too, plus when we flogged it off, the tranny was fuc!ed!

hehe.

* we had the car for 5-6 yrs

Despite my long time Datsun obsession, if I was going to drive around the world, I'd do it in a Range Rover, grunty, reliable, not too cramped, handles anything you throw at it and they are sold everywhere so parts and repairs aren't a problem.

Seeing as the only way you can really travel continuously around the world is by boat...... I'm going for a 40 ft catarmaran with all the motorised fandangle sail hoisting, trim setting etc..... Ahhh one day!
