I was just wondering what you all thought about side mirrors on 1200s?..As im thinking of getting rid of mine all together. What does everyone think, better looking with both mirrors? one mirror? no mirrors?

I am pretty sure by law you have to have one, i may be wrong.

cheers

legally you have to retain external rear veiw mirrors where they were fitted as standard - sorry. nothing stopping you getting some nicer mirrors though.

Here in Victoria I had to have both right and left side exterior mirrors before I could pass my roadworthy certificate.

Much safer to have them on. Until you have driven a car with no outside mirrors, you don't realise how hard it is to see what's going on around you.

Especially with "body hugging" racing bucket seats.

I had no mirrors in mine for a little while, and I had to lift myself out of my seat, while driving along, to look around the seat I was sitting in.

The way i remember it, in NSW all passenger cars require either one internal mirror only, or one internal mirror plus one drivers side mirror [i forget which is applicable]
Vehicles registered as commercial models, IE station wagons & utes require one internal mirror plus two external mirrors. The commercial nature of these bodies means that they can be legaly loaded to the point that the internal mirror is obstructed & the two external mirrors go some way towards compensating for the loss of vision from the internal mirror.

Whats that you say? Your ute is a pristine, show quality toy that will not cary anything more bulky or heavy than a couple of Kleenex in the back? Don't try telling that to the parasite rego Nazi's, they don't give a rats a###
My personal preference is for body coloured, door mounted bullet types. They seem to suit the style of 1200's

not the clearest shots. but it shows how they blend in nicely. and if you do happen to look up close, all you see is yourself in the chrome

functionality wise, they are really stiff which means hard to adjust, but once adjusted, they sstay like that. i have them positioned so that they are clealy visible through the quater windows. I like em!

Mirrors on a ute are a sh*t idea because you can put them in the right place, but then again you do need them to keep the cops off you back so i say go for mirrors.
