I have 205/60/13's RA1's on my sunny.

Their performance in dry and wet is excellent and only exceeded by DO1J Dunlops in the dry but the wear rate on the RA1's is much better (More race KM's for your buck) than the Dunlops.

I haven't seen them before.

qik1000, what tyres do you run at the moment?

The R888 is designed more for dry track use same as Dunlop DO1J's.

DO1J's.
As the car is owned by me and my brother, it is always double entered and works hard all day.
As we both have limited budgets we're looking for best bang-for-buck. We would love to get two seasons out of a set but realise that this is near impossible. Our tyres are 2003 models and we're struggling at the moment.

Its in Albany
VSCC is running an around the houses event. Our hillclimb and I believe a round of the state motorkhana championship.
So get your arse to Albany

I got the 205's on the car yesterday and I didn't have to cut too much out of the flares..... so I'll run with them and see how they go.

Feral,
I was very interested in your comment that the R888's grip was exceeded only by the D01J's.
Does this come from first hand experience?? Can you tell me more about the two?? Like does one tyre go 'off' earlier than the other brand??
Daniel.

This is my feelings on the RA1's versus DO1J.
I like the RA1's and ffeel very confident of their ability to give a constatnt grip without going "off" noticeabely.

I have never driven on R888's, but I bet a lot of people would be very attracted to the lucky number of the tyres.

I've been running the RA881's (the pre-decessor to the 888) recently. I was running the kumho v700's prior to that. I run bloody great 225/50/15's on the tank...

the v700's behave more like a slick, they take a little bit to come in, and were happiest on the circuit. They are the best value tyre I've ever run...

the 881's work from cold, but feel softer in the sidewall than the v700. The 881's are superb hillclimb tyres, I' havent run them on the circuit yet.

They both weigh a ton, feel quite sloppy compared to slicks and raise the gearing up one ratio. If money was no object, and I wanted to run a light 1200 on low profile DOT rated tyres again, I'd go for the Avons..
I also hear that Kumho have released a low profile 13 inch tyre. I cant wait to see it!
