But is there a manual gearbox that can fit the buick v6 Well, it should be the same bellhousing bolt pattern as most other GM V6/V8s. If you are in the US, finding a manual tranny for it should be no trouble. Just need a manual bellhousing from some BOP car, and a good T5 from a Camaro/Trans Am. That being said, I wouldn't do it. SR20DET will be MUCH easier to fit and make 300-400hp with a little work.

for sunny the compact nature of a vg20 would be great, if not the sr20 is great but currently expensive due to its popularity.
Th vg series were regarded pooly as mentioned due to oil starvation and overheating in compact engine bays......... if a modedd sump and properly thought out buil were done, it would no longer be an issue. JPC in australia can mak over 500kw with the vg30dett so it can be that bad....if done properly (ie not on the cheap).

An SR20DET is a great install but it is an engine that is too common.I want to be different which is why I'm considering putting a 6 cylinder(v-type or straight) or probably even a small supercharged v8.I want to be extreme.

Yeah right.....a jag v12 is way too big and way too heavy for a sunny.A V8 is probably the biggest engine that can fit in a sunny.I was once told that a rover 3500 V8 can fit in a sunny with little modification.

I am doing up a VG30 at the moment and am interested in the oil problem comments and other negatives on this engine.
I find them very reliable and very responsive to performnce mods. Mine in the parts barge has done 400,000 km's on the original bottom end and just a clean up on the heads. They rev like here is no tommorow if you keep them in good nick.

an M90 eaton kit from Jordan Rover Tech on a 3.9L "stiff block" rover V8 will crack windscreens in a sunny from the torque - and will fit with "minimal" fuss if you put a tricke dup 4spd JATCO behind it from M&V automatics in adelaide to name one workshop.
the oil system in VG30DET is fine, it's the VG30DETT where they changed the pump and pickup, leaving it high and dry on hard corners / launches and the pump was a little "soft" on pressure.

what about the rumor that the 300zx had alot of over heating problems with the VG motor?..
Is that just a myth?

i think that's overheating the inlet temps from insufficient factory intercooling.
i've never heard of a VG30DETT overheating when correctly serviced... You can view topic.
