well here's my two cents...
you have proven time and time again that if you thrash an A series something will break. diff, gearbox, motor or all three at once. if you are really serious about it you neeed to rebuild the bottom end so it is strong. they are not built for boost. so forged pistons at least!!!! but really think about it. CA... semi forged pistons from factory, a big fat crank girdle, oil squirters for the bores, twin cam fuel injection and a turbo. STANDARD! no worrying about whether or not 10 psi is too much, the motor is made to make 135kw before you even start playing with it! bit of boost ($50 bleed valve) pod filter ($20) and a free flowing or no exhaust ($200 home made) and there are some really cheap kw's. in a light 1200 shell, you'll not need any more than that and you already have one in a wheelbarrow in your shed ready for the midas touch! the a15ett couldn't reliably put out near that power without mega dollars, and even then it would be under its power. think of the abuse drift car drivers give their motors. the answer is imminent. i think a15e would be good in your road car, drop the turbo's and you'd be much more reliable and you'd still have nice reliable power.

mmmmmmm a15e road car
does sound good what about running 7psi boost only may aswell still need the same fuel system then go CA crazy stop trying to get more from a15ett, just leave it in a reliable state i always knew #### would break with the a15ett cause i never had a good box behind it and stuff, it's not its fault its not reliable, i swear i just never gave it the components it deserved till i had too

you cant help yourself d/man
im gonna drop the boost on a15ett and start rebuilding my CA, and we will see where that motor ends up when the rebuild is done ill stop trying to get more from the a15, it seems at its limit, and like ive always said ill go CA before i do up the internals of an a-series

Make a decision between either the CA or A15ett. Dont bother with both. Yes it sounds good in theory but funds as well as interest will die of in one of them most probably the a15ett. Work out where the real love is. I love CA powered dattos. Sooo fast. But nothing beats the A15ett for design, patience, damn right crazyness and very, very different yet still be fast. If going fast is all your interested go the CA. You just cant beat the dollar for performance value. But if you like abit of oldskool power, if you like been different go the A15ett. If you had the bonnet open at a show or something and I saw a CA id be like meh, isnt that what they have standard nowadays. But if i saw the mighty A15ett I would take note and appreciate the hard work and patrience to go through with such an outrageous proposal.
Cheers

looks like the tribe has spoken RC. let the a15ett be what it is. old school with some real individuality, just don't push it too far. standard bottom end and all the head components for that matter won't like it.
i got lucky with the hilux diff, i bought it ready to go into a 1200, just needed to get one axle made for it, it has nice fat 30 spline nine inch axles. R31 would be fine i just bought what was about.

go ca in the green coupe as a drift car and just stay a15e in the red coupe, ditch the turbos (or sell them to someoneelse to fund the a15 rebuild).
You will need for the drift car more steering lock and more neg camber up front and try to reduce axle tramp in the rear, then get it low. Try to cut out the rear archs to fit wide rims 7inch minimum and maybe 15's. Sprinter rims are everywhere for cheap $$$ and look ok on 1200's. For inspiration look at what Beau Yates has done with his sprinter ![]() just make it srong on the stock ca with exhaust and work on brakes, diff, cooling and susension first. You can view topic.
