yeah i might look into this as well.
there are so many 4G mitsi engines here in WA, and they're bloody good engines, it would be a shame not to see one under the bonnet of an early model datto/corolla/gemini etc etc. i wonder if i could get a sigma bellhousing to bolt to a 4G? if so, the dellow kit would be a very tempting thought. imagine a VR4 engined 1200 with a supra 5spd...

Been looking about on the net for 4G92 MIVEC info and there are a lot of people out there who reckn they dont come up with the goods on the dyno. Could just be chatrooms perpetuating buls**t though

mate, in my opinion you build cars for yourself to suit your tastes, not to suit others.... i guess what i am saying is go ahead and put the mitsu engine in, as long as it keeps you happy and it goes hard who gives a f*** about everyone else.

I have to agree. Its good to see innovation. My only concern would be how much weight would be added & how that might affect handling.

Sunnys do rule.- That's what I reckon too but you have to consider that one day you might want to get rid of it- I dont want to build a ride that's so "unique" that no one else wants it
Weight was one of the main reasons I was considering it in the first place. I havent got any figures for the mivec, but from memory an A-15 is 93kgs, a CA18DET is 128Kgs and a SR-20DE is 139kgs..... The way I figure, with the SR, an extra 45kg (plus bigger brakes) over the front axles cant be a good thing. The Mivec would have to be lighter than 139kgs and has more power (but a bit less torque) and revs harder.

I remember going to Southside Mitsubishi (to get a spare key for my sister's '96 excel and they had brand new 3.5 litre V6's that had intake manifold but no plenium, injectors or wiring/computer for $3500 I instantly thought "what a great engine for a Datsun 1000, 1200, 120Y, Sunny or similar sized vehicle!" as they are a 60 degree V6 - lots of room for a pair of racing snails!

my point exactly.
crate engines are SO cheap for these V6s, and they're compact. hmmmm..... ![]()

Pro 240c- I'm going to head in to see malcolm crockenberg about the conversion- he has got an engine in stock so hopefully I'll be able to get some photos, measurements and a bell housing stencil to see if its possible. I'll keep you posted.
