A quick note on refrigerated intercooling, a local guy has one of these using a tube and shell intercooler rather like a steam engine flash tube boiler. It uses a compressor running LPG (due to its higher thermal transfer properties) as the refrigerant with a suitable lubricant added.

This really works well and more tham makes up for the drag of the compressor at full noise.
