#21 Re: How do i get 200hp from an A14

There is nothing stopping you, using an A15 crank in an A14 block. As far as I know the A14 - A15 blocks are identical apart from the engine number stamping. 5mm difference in stroke, that all.

As for 180hp from an A-series on Webers, Im yet to see one. [I guess its not impossible] It would need some very serious money thrown at it. I would spend more time on building an A-Series that produces more torque. A correct sized / matched turbo will help you there.

Shauns motor has been sold.

If you get the car engineered with the turbo engine you wont have to worry about getting defected.

Correct....Hp sell cars Torque win Races.
If u can get about 160 ft/lbs of torque at low rpm, and u wouldn't need anymore

My Idea for My A12Turbo.
Get a Cr ratio of about 7.5:1, find a cam wid lots of valve lift and the lowest amount of duration 280 degress or less. proper fuel and spark delivery, a good sized turbo and 20psi of boost ad u should get atleast 200hp it it all holds together

P.S.. i know some dont like my ford talk. But before i sold my ford stuff i was building a turbo 1300 xflow, with jetronic etc, based on the Zakspeed BDA 1400 Turbo Capris which made 360-480 bhp(depending on boost settiings). Never got it finished but from the info i recieved i could have gotten 260bhp wid 20psi of boost and 230 ft/lbs of torque.

Also have a dyno sheet for a 1300gti swift on 18psi boost that made 200hp at the wheels. The engine internals were stock

i would use EFI with good intercooling and push for at least 8.0:1 CR.

the more static CR you have, the more responsive the engine will be.

for every 3psi boost you add, your CR goes up by one point. so 20 psi on 7.5:1 CR would be about 14.5:1 total CR under boost.

This thread doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so I'll add that I run an A10 TT with 20 PSI, w/NOX & LMNOP and run it 20 PSI all day long.

I've heard it does sub 9's running on only 3 cylinders, with cracked rings and dirty plugs......

u all r even worst that some ford ppl i know.

Have u guys even seen the 1000cc 4age with about 400-600hp(CANNT REMEMBER EXACTLY).

I dont see why a A12 cannt make 200hp. Build a strong bottom end at rev it to 9500 rpm(like the ZakSpeed Fords) and u will be suprised how much power u make.

Dattoman 1000s A15 would make that.

Come on killer, quote the whole thing:

"As for 180hp from an A-series on Webers, Im yet to see one. [I guess its not impossible] It would need some very serious money thrown at it. "

Maybe I should be a bit clearer, I mean 180 RWHP. It would be no walk in the park to get those figures out of an A-Series.

At the end of the day it is the results on the track that do it for me. Its not just the power output of the engine that determines the lap times and 1/4 run times.

Cheers

Benny
