Hi everyone, my 1975 120Y is blowing smoke so I am looking for a shop who is good with Datsuns. Please let me know if you had work done and very happy with it. If you had bad experience pls let me know too! (email is best if you're bagging someone and we don't want to be sued for defamation!). I have a good oval port head complete with the factory SU's & factory air cleaner- is this a GX? Will it fit on a 120Y A12? Something about the oil feeder holes?

thanks in advance!

Welcome to the club Mike.

I can't help you with the name of a shop to rebuild your engine, but if you are able to e-mail me some pics of the oval port head & the intake system, i will see if i can identify it for you. A picture of the inlet port side if the bare head will be good too.

The genuine 1200 engine [front distributor] had a diferent method of sending oil into the head for the rockers than the later A12 engines & these heads had a couple of extra drillings, one of which i can see in a picture of the head gasket surface.

Hi Mike - my 100% recommendation is JTS in St Marys. Jeff is a good honest bloke with 30 years A series experience who will build what you want at a very fair price - all the way from standard to extreme.
He's one of life's characters too!

Jeffs Taylor is the man. From mild to wild at a reasonable price. A series are his specialty. He has done quite a bit of work for me over the years. Both A series and Ca18 engine work. Top bloke too.
