yes i dont have much trust 4 people over the net but im usually a sucker for datsun people. i always think that another datsun bloke wouldnt rip me off. sorry to hear normo that in your case this wasnt true. but i can say with the few datsun people that i havew dealt with from this site i can say that i would trust them. maybe we should start a trader rating kinda like ausrotary. just put in your signiture members names that you have successfully dealt with. what do you's think???

If you don't know cars, have someone who does come with you and check it out, go for a drive, look underneath - before handing over any $$ otherwise you sill get burned. People rarely sell an old car just to get something else, they always have some kind of problem, sometimes you can scam them and say wow that sounds really bad, i bet it'll cost $$$ to fix , here's 1/2 your asking price :)
I'd trust nobody selling something. it's not really in their interest to be honest.

Well, in lieu of this guy defending himself (and you always should hear both sides of a story), here are my observations:
He's either a crook or a pathological liar. A pathological liar cannot tell the difference between truth and fiction. That means they might be telling you something false, but at the time they're telling it, they believe it to be true. Of course, it's possible that this person deliberately lied because he's observed how so many people and corporations lie and usually get away with it to their advantage. I can almost guarantee that if you confronted him, he would either express great suprise, or at least complete denial of any wrong doing. ![]() Here in the U.S. we would take somebody like that to small claims court.

Here in Australia Small claims court ( in the 'new' magistrates court hierachy) ranges from $3000 to $5000 so in this instance it would not be heard here. If memory serves me right it would be most likeley taken to some sort of ADR (alternative dispute resolution) or Court of petty sesions (??) instead of the usual litigation process which is NOT cost effective, well neither is ADR but in the long run it comes out better!! Sorry to hear bout it Normo, yah thats a good idea Shaun - in reference to when we do opt to buy stuff from these peoplez... Dave

Yeah, I have had two dealings with Datsun people from the net and the trade on this site went sweet. However, my other trade with a Datsun guy from NZ over Trademe was a major hassle. It took me every available measure I had to finally get my parts after paying him.
I thought I would be safe too dealing with other Datsun club members. (They were on the Datsun NZ Club website)

Most americans have never been to court. So it's not like we are always suing people.

$1300 was a fair price, but it had no motor or gearbox, some new panels. But the bottom line is if it wasn't LSD I would not have bought it.
THe idea of who you can trust is good but logistically difficult. I sell and buy a lot on Toymods and have lots of good references there. Any good ideas.

When it comes to cars unfortunely you can't trust anyone. I always assume the worst and work from there.
You just have to do your research and check everything twice.

I'll add my winge to this thread,
I sold a member of this site an engine and box and other accessories and so he paid 3/4's of the total price and asked me to send the engine so i did as I knew the guy was keen to put it in. How ever I'm still waiting for the rest of my money, when ever I ask him about the money his same reply is Yeah I'll have the money to you soon, but I'm still waiting!!!!! You know who you are! Damo
