engine stalls when idling

Need advice re engine stalling when idling. Car goes like a beauty until coming to a halt at traffic lights or slowing to turn a corner and she just dies. Any suggestions - it is not the carby. The car is a 1971 Datsun.

Give the car a proper tune up as per your manual. It could be the timing, the points, the idle mixture, the idle speed, the tappet setting, or any combination of these, There is also the possibility of an air leak in the intake system.
Giving it a tune up will address these points & hopefully fix the problem.
