Ok,
why do some people make catch cans and divert the engine oil breather hose to this? (instead of the carby or the turbo inlet pipe for the CA18dets among us?)
Something to do with oil? what's so good about them?
jus

Cos when a force fed motor is breathing real hard, there can be increased blowby. This can cause oil to vent through the breathers. On a turbo car having this go into the turbo can lead to coating the inside of the intercooler which will decrease it's effeiciency. On an S/C motor, you don't want any crap going through the blower.
On my engine I have both breather hoses teed together. Then they go into a tube which dips down to the bottom of the catch can. There is a baffle inside the can, which prevents the contents from the can going out the vent tube, which goes back to the air cleaner.
Ive seen a few set ups where the can vent is vented to atmosphere. But who wants to smell crankcase fumes?
When my old motor developed "issues", The can was filling up with water. It has a drain port and a sight glass too.

So what issues would cause water in the catch can??...I have this issue however comp in each cylinder is perfect (205psi) and no water in the oil and also no loss of radiator fluid without any oil present in the radiator. I thought it was condensation.....any ideas?

Is it milky white Craig or just clear water? I had heaps of water in my overflow once, but no oil, engine was perfect also, I just ended up putting it down to condensation but there was quite a lot of water so I never was sure...

its milky couloured are you serious???

cracked head, head gasket, something not good! when your oil mixes with your water its time to be pulling it appart. does it get real hot? is the oil on the dipstick the same colour? how does you coolant look?

A little bit of water in your catch can is fine its just condensation, only when there's and lot of water should you start to worry.

So how bad is it ?

Im only talking about 30ml after a days practice (60 hard laps).

remember this is coming out of my rocker cover breather so it must have been vapourised before it got to the catch can.
Im sure its only condensation.
