So should I take it in to Pedders and get them to tell me whether I can lower the front?

u can be forgiven for thinking lowering blocks and longer u bolts are the way to go, that does work where u have leaf springs onto a thick diff axle and the axle sits atop the leafs.
however the front of a 1000 is not like that, the way to do it is to cut down the rubber blocks that sit between the crossmember and the leafs. there is not a lot of travel as it is in that front end and this being done without uprating the spring rate will probly cause a lot of bottoming out and bouncing/crashing through potholes etc. u could instead leave it original...

i live in vic and the front needs to go down due to the way the front end is very wondering at high speeds. it just sits up to high, maybe a front spoiler

if you're keen to go to a pedders dealership try the one in carlisle st, st kilda. karl (if he still owns it??) helped me heaps in getting my 1200 sorted 1st time round, and is a big fan of dattos.
as for lowering it, its pretty much the same deal as your rear leaf springs - measure from the bottom of wheel rim, not the tyre, up to the guard lip and work out how far you'd like it to come down. do this for both sides, write down your measurements, pull out the spring (pretty easy job in a thou) mark drivers/passengers sides and take it into pedders to have them reset it to how far you'd like it to be lowered. don't go cutting rubbers or trying to fit u-bolts or other dumb stuff. good luck You can view topic.
