Ok guys as there seems to be lots of 1000's about lets talk about their suspension and how we can keep these things on the road

I'll go first

Gas Shock for the front
What I have used is Torana GTR front shocks.
Press out the torana lower pin as its not long enough for us
Fit new rubbers to bottom eye. I used Nolothane ones and I'm trying to find the part # for them for you guys. They aren't shock rubbers though I think they were steering rack bushes so I have to find the paperwork and let you know.
The rubbers need to be glued together inside the shock eye or they will work loose.
I then made a stainless steel lower pin to mount the shock to the radius rod
I used solid stainless as the old pin is hollow and tended to bend.

For the upper mount I removed the rubber bushes as I was replacing them with the urethane again. I reduced the thickness of the shock eye to the same as the datsun original shock as it was too wide to fit on the mounting stud.
Fitted the urethane bushes and a crush tube so the bushes didn't distort too much and bolt it on.
The shocks were the closest to length I could find in a gas shock at the time

Thanks for the write up, and pics. This kind of stuff is great. Too bad we don't have Torana GTRs here though lol...

Pre Pogo Stick suspension.

I have a pair of Koni adjustables [Torana] waiting for a KB10 to mount onto.
I chose not to go with gas as it would increase the ride height a little, & i didn't want that. Besides, quality shocks don't need gas pressurisation to control aeration in a street use vehicle.

I can always put a pair in the box with your brake kit
I'll even do the mods for you
Cause I don't think you'll be able to get commodore steering rack bushes (if thats what they turn out to be)

No rush.... I sold your hubs and am having more spun up when my guy gets back from....... of all places..... Japan.
