well guys and gals, it's been and gone

had a reasonable turn out for the bbq breakfast with 5 cars making the hour and a bit drive down to the start, even though the weather was less than desirable. 4 of these went on for the rest of the cruise, with me the 5th.

well we had it all weather wise ...... sun, rain, wind, sun, rain, rain and a bit more sun and wind

1st leg of the run took us past the legendary bells beach and then thru to lorne for a quick stop. From there we headed further west along a real part of the ocean road (cliff one side water the other) for a more brisk sprint to Apollo Bay. Stop 2 for lunch and a bit of datto banter then off again. inland towards Colac was next with the first bit of legit 100kmh zones thru some nice twisty and hilly forest road, with the wet asphalt covered in leaves making it interesting in some corners from colac the melbourne lads/lass headed home.

thanks for the guys that made the effort to drive down for brekky - lagwagon and the boys, and for those that did the full trip - Ange, unvailed the new rotor power under the bonnet of his green machine. Unfamilia, blew a few cobwebs out of his blue ute. 1200rallycar put in an all nighter to install a new gearbox to the back of the new block to turn up with with trusty dattogal navigating and -mrk- slotted in amongst the 12's in his 1600 with new engine .... oh and not forgetting 4nik8 who got to try out the passenger seat in all cars bar 1200rc's coupe.

thanks guys

Sorry I couldnt make it guys, had some dramas with my car.

I spent the rest of the day sorting out the 1200 a bit more. Maybe I'll be there next time with a 1200.

Good number of cars for a cruise, spewing I missed it.

was a good day... but having the most stocko car on the day made me a little left behind.... and think i should have chasnged my undies with the jittery rear end of an unladen ute in the wet bumpy corners....

now need more mods to keep up with modern times.... 1200rc.... its cam time maybe soon

was a great cruise... big thanks to boof for
organising it all and putting on the bbq.

it was good to see the regulars who show up at each of the cruises..
a bit of a shame there wasnt any more cars present...

hopefully next time we will see better
weather and a better turnout..

all in all it was a good day... the ute has proven its somewhat reliable...
and after spending the last 9 months lying on my back under it.. or with my head under the bonnet..
it was good to be able to finally enjoy all the effort that ive put into it...

time now to finish it off and get it engineered...
cant wait for the next cruise especially as
the weather gets better

thanks again

Dang... Sounds like everyone had a great time. I must make it next time.

I, like Mad120y, had a 'maintenance' day on my Zed (NO, We are NOT the same person...) fixing bits & pecies etc. so I can run at Calder on the 31st...

See you guys on the next one!

big thanks to boofhead for organising

was just writing bout my effort to get ready in another thread

pity i was a bit out of it, but had plenty of fun, especially chasing boofhead through the twisties at one stage

apparently i need a louder blow-off valve as my intimidation technique wasnt working so well

sooooooo what are we doing next

im hi-jacking the thread a little now.... but
who would be keen on extending the cruise to say "small-japs" to get some more numbers/interesting cars in the form of old corollas/spritnters , mazdas, etc etc, maybe even try to include escorts, cordias

call it "old skool 4's and rotars cruise" or whateva suits, inviting people from other forums

as it seems hard to get more numbers in the form of small dattos, and i think we are all thinking, yeah same-old cars turning up again, as good as it is, would be nice to get some fresh meat to look at

the only thing would be to try not to get too many numbers, where we would need much more organising and to be much more official about it all

not a bad idea rc

maybe we just need to concentrate on convincing another half dozen or so 1200 club members to come along...

then we'd have just the number of cars that u desire to cruise with

Beware that not all people will make the increased number worthwhile.

I've seen combined cruises in the past, many work, but not knowing some of the people leads to outsiders doing stupid things, and everyone getting labelled as hoons by the local cops. With everyone ending up with annoying "defect stickers" requiring more work, leaving less time for all the things we like doing.

Sydney Datto club cruises are an example. We invited other clubs, and ended up watching some autosalon boy doing reverse donuts in his CRX. We all boo'ed him and told him to piss off. Some people just don't get it.

More Dattos are needed that's all.
