Like I previously wrote.
A14 and A15 both need to be blueslipped. Basically to see that the engine fittment is satisfactory. Not exactly hard when it simply bolts straight in.
A14 falls within the size limit of owner certified modifications.(still needs blueslip)
All info can be found on the RTA webstie in the "Guidelines for light vehicle Modifications" pdf files
Add a turbo and it needs engineering.
On your blueslip papers the new engine numbers will be written. When you hand this to the RTA, your engine numbers will be changed on your rego papers.

Engineering requires a complete vehicle blueslip. If the engineer passes your vehicle, there should be no reason for it to fail blueslip.

this guy is an rta signatory!! crazy huh!!
phunk u must be joking me!!!!!!!!!!!!
your telling me i dont need to engineer my a14 in a 1200 ute????
so what do i do just go down to the rta and say "hi change these engine numbers over please"??????? as the engine number is different to that on the rego papers.......is that what u are saying...I HOPE SO !!! lol

also i have rung another engineer and am gunna go through him...this other guy seems nuts to me....lol but he said he doesnt know laws untill tomorrow

PHUNK THANKS HEAPS FOR ALL YOUR HELP KEEP IT COMING MATE!!

ps there is an emission testing station 10mins from my house...

Is he an RTA approved Engineering Signatory? He needs to be.
80 model ute needs to meet 1980 emission standards, at worst it will go off the engine itself. Whats the latest the A14 could be, 84? Even still. "Turbo" dont instantly make it fail emissions.
There is a place in Botany NSW that does RTA approved emissions tests.

Engineer sounds like a joke. A14 itself doesnt need to be engineered as it comes under owner certified modification. A15 itself needs to be engineered in a 1200.
Both engines need to be blueslipped.

when talking to the engineer...he said....what model is it....and i said 1980....he said so its after 1976 and im like yep....and he said well it is an emissions motor and you cannot bolt a turbo to an emmsions motor ....as it wont comply
and im like what ill just go get a test done ....he he said the only place that can do it is like some place in perth and melbourne and that will cost huge money and it will probably fail anyway >>(his words)

im tripping out aye....he reckons if i get a 1976 ute and chuck the package in...he will do it in 5 mins....but with the 1980 its impossible....apparently
he reckons absolutely no turbo and it will be fine with the a14....but wont touch it with turbo on...

is this right...as i dont want to think all my effort is useless??????

this is a joke im ringing another engineer tomoz...so ill keep you posted

There is no reason why the engine cant meet an emissions test, unless the engine itself is warn.
It only has to meet 1980 emission requirements. A tuned Aseries no matter turbo or not will still be good for 2000 emissions.
If the engine is good, all that you need to do is the carbie. Put smaller jets. Your mechanic doesnt sound to competent or doesnt wish to touch it cause its "modified".

The car is illegal because it is now turbocharged and un-engineered. No engineer slip and crashing is like driving un registered uninsured anyway.
To engineer it, it requires to go through blueslip anyway.
When rego runs out, you still have 3 month in which only a pinkslip is required for rego.

can you post some pictures of the rest of the body and interier please thanks.

dazzasute Posted on: 2005/10/12 7:40
can you crank the boost riiiiiight down, so that its basically just lag, and might pass an emissions test??

change year of ute.... you need to find an old ute, one thats basically rusted out, cut the body numbers, and the compliance plate out of it,and swap with yours.... dodgy i know...

but the right engineer will pass anything for the right price.... or so i have been told

1. ok ill try

2. i run a business i simply dont have time to do it....unfortunately
and by the time that is done it will have run out of rego...and i will then need a blue slip...and ill still need to get the car engineered because of the bigger engine...which all meens $$$$ and time

3.thought of that too...but just way to much hassle....id prefer to let someone else do it if they would like

4.HOW U MEEN......like get new plate on car...

ps thanks for the help mate keep the ideas coming

dazzasute Posted on: 2005/10/12 6:28
just a few ideas....

1)try a few other engineers
2)turbo off, then rego, then turbo back on...
3)new engine in, sell ute, buy earlier model ute, old engine in new ute...
4)change year of ute...
