yeah, we get speedweek. I've seen some NSW IPRA races on it in the past.

Hi Craig,
Just had a look at your times. They are quite good. I'm really vague on the rules of the impoved production class. I was just wondering how my car would fit into the category.

What tyres your running ?
what gear box ?
diff ?
Glass or perspex ?
Suspension mod limitations ?

What tyres your running ? Yoko A032R but soon to be replaced by A048R you must run a 60 profile.
what gear box ? gearbox is open
diff ? diff is open
Glass or perspex ? glass
Suspension mod limitations ? must retain factory pick up points, but you can add to enhance such as panhard or rear stab bar...
engine must be made by same manufacturer. ie Nissan/Dastun for the 1000.

Not 100% sure on Craig's set-up, but as for the IPRA rules............

Control Tyres - Yokohama A032r
Gearbox's are free.
Diff is free
Must run Glass...no perspex

Suspension mods......difficult to answer in on sentence...however - must run original config (ie coil where coil springs are fitted and leaf springs where leaf are fitted from factory.

Macpherson struts are free. Lower control arm must be standard, redrilling of location point for Lower Conrol arm is ok if done within 45mm radially of original. Adjustable stut tops are ok. Shocks are free, as long the number and location are not changed.

Minimum ride height of 100mm excluding exhaust.

Does that help?

I should also be on the same program...in the over 2L race with teh Sunny, hopefully next weekend.

We see the NSW IPRA cars on Speedweek on occasions. Speedweek does not cover the QLD State Champs. We are also running a 1200 coupe with an A series block at 1608cc in the same category.
There is a local TV station called Bris31 which televises the State series however. Harry - you would remember the old format with a 1220cc engine, but we have not run that driveline this year. It has become a donor driveline for our nearly completed road going 1200 coupe.
The new format race engine/gearbox/diff pushes it along quite well as it only weighs 768kgs wet (without the driver)

Hi Adam. yeah I heard you had a new engine with a few more ponies this year. I've seen your car a couple of times on Briz31's RedZone program covering the QLD State Rounds. It's looking good too.

768kg is OK. Interesting comparison with my L series coupe which weighed in at 851kg with 1/2 tank IIRC. 83kg heavier.

Adam is not here at the moment.
However, it has been on the Bris31 a few times as well as an interview with him. He has been the youngest competitor in the State series this year so gets his fair share of PR.
The engine is bascially an A14 block bored to within an inch of it's life and running an A15 crank and rods. We got hold of a GX head and it showed quite poor flow so we started work and spent about 80-100 hours on it. Biggest disadvantage is the compression ratio which is much higher than we wanted, so special leaded fuel is required.
We flowed the head with carbies and exhaust on it prior to bolting it all together and ran 146.6hp.
It ran a theoretical on the dyno of 146.4hp at which reading we ran 119.7hp at the treads. This is a VERY radical 1600cc though so we were not surprised at the result. It has translated into a quick car on the track, but is still MONSTERED by the chook cookers in the category. They run a different capacity class however so I guess it is not a dissapointment
