Ok so I'm bored today; The answer to the question for me is I am now a 1200 owner who races. I started racing the 1200 because it was a fun little car that allowed me to race for low bucks and I was looking for something less intense than my motorcylce road racing. Along the way I have raced other cars purely with racing in mind I.E. the result is what mattered not what I was driving. Well now I run my car which is highly UNcompetitive but I do not care because 1200's are just so much fun on a track, even one as mildy tuned as my 85HP wonder.
So which is it for the rest of you guys/gals?

Tom

I don't race my 1200 Coupe, but I do Autox and circuit track. It's not competive, but that doesn't keep me from having a lot of fun with it. Despite the fact I can afford to "upgrade" to an S13 or R32, I'd never do it because I'd miss my 1200 too much.

I'm a 1200 racer too. The XR6 is the daily driver, because it has cruise and air con.

The 1200 is the weekend racer because it's nimble, fast and gives you a lot of feedback. And as Matt says they are indeed fun.

The good thing about the 1200 being a racer is on Sunday night if it is still in bits it's not a tragedy, as it doesn't have to get you to work the next day.

My first car was a 1200 because it was the same as my dads racer, then my first car is still a daily driver but has become a racer and i have just started building a new racer thats the same as my daily driver

and the circle starts again

My 1200 is highly competitive in its class 0-1600cc with a carbed a series. It has very well sorted suspension and brakes and very easy to drive. It also snots alot of 2 litre cars.
I am now going for a 2 litre SR20 to take it up to the big boys in the class. Im not looking for race wins (though that would be nice) But I am looking to be in every race and finish each one and take the campionship next year with consistancy.

I didn't know you autox and track your coupe either you kept that quiet.

drive a GTR and you won't miss the little buzzbox at all. S13's shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

I bought my 1200 to have a bit of fun in and maybe do the odd track day.......

I've since spent more than I planned making it competitive with the sort of machines I could never afford to own. I have an everyday car (Falcon) so the 1200 only comes out now for a spirited early morning drive or a track day.

Like the others I love the nimbleness and simplicity. I find it an absolute joy to drive but I'm also glad I can afford to keep an everyday car with a/c, p/s etc.
