Hey 1200 rally car have you thought of microtech fuel only computer the computer loom and hand set can be brought for around the 1000 dollar mark new would save you heaps of money and you can learn to tune it yourself speak to craig at dyson rotary he has explained a fair bit to me about them you can download the tunning program from the microtech web site for a look ...

well i just spent 20mins writing a reply and it logged me off during that so when i tried to post it i lost it all......................shiat

anyway cost me $300 a go to tune it, and thats not finely tuned for optimum, many places can do it, but it's hard to find out who exactly

think about :
fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
fuel line upgrade
fuel return lines-where to?
surge tank??? maybe not needed
throttle cable
injector clean
air cleaner, i guess whatevers on the falcon
new O2 sensor ($60-70) cause you cant get second hand ones out

i used the camira dizzy module on a factory a-series electronic dizzy (weld up the mechanical advance), that works perfectly

i also adapted the camira water temp sensor and O2 sensor onto my car

the camira computer is a good thing, only thing is getting re-tuned after making changes, like i found an air leak in my inlet o needed to re-tune it (it was leaking when it was tuned) and now i want to upgrade my exhaust i need to get it re-tuned for the exhaust. at $300 a go that means after the exhaust i will likely have spent $900 on tuning

edit: i still agree with my original coment that if you are going to bother seting up everything you need for injection you may aswell go that little extra and make or have made an inlet manifold for 4 direct injectors. as the cost wont differ greatly, your still buying all the expensive stuff already

When I was researching EFI for my new driveline, I spoke to Jeff Taylor. At that time I was going down the A12turbo route. He mentioned the camira injection (delco) which like the Pulsar one is programmable. It also is designed for 4 cyl and uses ign as trigger. It is reasonably crude but the difference is not peak power...carbs can still outperfrom EFI for that, but drivability (especially out of corners) is what you want. he also mentioned the Magna throttle body for fuelling. All very cheap and will give good results. as it is closed loop ie lamba feedback it will be easy to tune and keep tuned. Keep us posted with your progess....

Having a brief read on what people have written it all sounds people have gotten onto a good thing, Ive asked a mate of mine who is pretty cluey on this subject about the wiring of the computer .He said theres two triggers One is a crank angle sensor which focused on the rpm and the engine timing the other trigger can be found in the dizzy and fires the injector ...By wiring these two together and running them to the coil in theory it should work
Please someone tell me if im wrong .
It would be good to get a wiring diagram going ........

The TB wont care if it's turbo or not all it's doing is adding fuel for NA it will just add less fuel.

That's my friend Jon's capri. We got the bottom end done by a friend who's an engine reconditioner, he also did the valve guides and seats but I ported it, built the head and we installed and tuned it on the road before the dyno session. The spkie is because the exhaust is too small (2.25 inch) and chocking the topend power...

Here's the link to my capri http://www.retrotech.co.nz/rides/mk1capri/capri/capri.htm we have recently moved servers and just about all my pics and pages got lost so I have to upload them again...
You can see the dyno run of the supercharger setup I did and a pic tho...

I've already mounted the VG30-DET and box in my capri got the intercooler in and with the turbo and injector upgrade it should be an easy 400 HP

Well its seems it is the the way to go for a budget setup using the standard hitachi manifold. However it seems it will have to be a turbo setup unless someone out there has made one work on a 4 cyl NA?

Nice work on your capri, very clean and well sorted with some ingenious solutions and a great mid range spike to say the least!.
I would definately consider a 2.2 L series with the same setup you could almost double the rwhp with them and rods and cranks are forged from factory.

But in reality I would consider a ka24de they have 2.4liters which can be taken safely for boost out to 2.6 liters or stroked with a diesel crank to 3.1 liters, using L20 or z22 rods and factory standard 36mm inlet valves.
400wrhp should be a problem. I can get the ka24de with 48,000 on the clock for 450au from a local wreckers in Melbourne.

If you had your heart on a v6 the VQ2.5de is supposed to be a lighter and better beast.

Hi All first post
Yes I'm a Ford boy but I love datto/nissan engines which is why I'm dropping a VG30-DET in to my capri.

The Fuel Pressure Reg (FPR) is there to keep a consistant pressure DIFFERENCE between the injectors and manifold of usually 40 or 45 psi. The reason for this is so that when the computer opens the injectors for a set amount of time the same volume of petrol flows out irrespective of inlet manifold pressure.

If there was no FPR when an injector was opened for 1 second the amount of fuel delivered would be different. Ie crusing at high vacuume 1 sec would deliver more fuel than 1 sec at WOT.

I'm about to turbo my escort van and I want to EFI it on the cheap so I'm looking at the CFI setup, hopefully will get one in this weeked.... any links to any other CFI setups?

Here's the last engine I built http://www.retrotech.co.nz/pinto2.html
186 Rear wheel HP out of a Ford 2L EFI'ed, ported and turbo'ed

D today I mate told me of a 1200 ute recently built by an exhaust shop his workshop uses. The exhaust shop is up this way in Castle Hill Sydney and they built this ute for a customer. A15 turbo blowing through the ford throttle body injection with original ford injectors.
They are running fuel only computer. Staged to run one injector only and then boost triggering the second injector.
He was told its running 20psi boost and the injectors are easily handleing 25psi fuel pressure and they were tested up to 30psi with no problems.
Its said to chop the workshops v6 holden ute no worries.
Hopefully the owner will come online and share some info on how it all runs.

100 bucks all up to make it work no no no I wish. maybe 200-300 in tuning also and another 200 in fitment unless I do it myself.
