hi to all the datto fans out there, i myself have found to be a proud owner of a 1200 coupe and i'm wondering if anyone knows, if the front grill on a 1200 ute is the same to a 1200 coupe....?

Never...

1971-1973 utes had same stainless steel grille as sedan

Newer utes had a plastic grille similar -- but different -- from Coupe.

See: Datsun 1200 Exterior Trim.

Sedan and coupe grilles "fit" in the same opening, but have different mounting brackets. So they won't simply bolt in without making up new brackets.

Following this, it would seem likely that the 1971-1977 ute grilles would have a different mounting pattern than the 1978-up grilles. Anyone know for sure?

im not 100%... but i think the later model platic ute grille's have different mounts to the metal grille...

and im wondering if perhaps late model ute grille's (plastic ones) are interchangeable with coupe grille's?

I thought that the plastic ones were the same, the utes just came out with different centre badges and different use of silver in places on the grille?

My 1970 sedan had a plastic grille fitted when I bought it & I was able to fit an original metal grille without any changes.
