Wassup peeps. My name is Chris Wall, known as Krutch coz it's the name I write under in Speed & Sound magazine here in SA where I'm Features Editor. I was meant to log on ages ago but deadlines for end of year have been pretty tight so I've been hectic busy.
Anyways, the point is to verify the times of the Dunrite Datsun. The car did indeed run the 13.85 time and it's ensures it a place in the finals of a nationwide racing series we set up in SA. Actually the finals are this Sunday and I'm sure Minnesh and the boys will take the top honours in their class (4AR - 4 cyl Aspirated rearwheel drive). Unfortunately I don't have any of the layouts of the feature in the magazine saved in the office, they're stored offsite. I do have the article though as well as the specs of the car. Here's the specs first....
MOTOR CYLINDER HEAD/S: Ported with ceramic coated chambers VALVES: Ford Laser CAMSHAFT/S: Lamco TR 84 MAIN BEARINGS: Stock ENGINE CAPACITY: 1400cc BORE / STROKE: 77mm x 77mm CONRODS: Stock lightened & balanced PISTONS: .0040 oversized Datsun

This was the accompanying article I wrote. It's not exactly a short read, but here it is for those that are interested....
Playing in the aspirated racing game is where everyone starts out. The obvious reason for using it as a starting point is that most cars come from the factory in that form. Not many of us would have had a turbo or supercharged car as our first ride, unless we include all of those guys born with a silver spoon clamped between their gums. From aspirated, the usual progression is something like getting an exhaust, a cam, a head job and if you really wanna be fast, nitrous. After that most guys do a rebuild and add in something that

OK, firstly, MadTimo, i feel your pain, it's like no one is listening. I wold love to see this thing go.
To everyone else, why so unbelievable? Because you didn't do it?
I remember Andrew Deniss's old A14 was supposed to do low 14s or something, and high 13s with traction... can't remember if that was him saying that or someone spealking for him... kinda like im doing now... whoops...!
13.5:1 comp. is a serious figure!!!

Oh, didn't read all 8 pages, too busy. But at least people believe poor ol' Minnesh now. He worked hard to get the car like it is. My Chief designer here at the office is busy scanning every contact we have to find a clean od Datsun, he's looking for an old SSS. I say good luck to him coz they super rare here.
Sweet, gota mag to finish. Later peeps!
