One should probably not estimate HP when other people are after some serious advise.It only confuses the issue.

Granted, a fat torque curve is always going to be better for curcit racing & general driving than a peaky one, but more power will give you better acceleration if you get the gearing right......

It would be interesting to see a simulation of where the crossover is - i.e engine 1 has 130hp @ 7500, & engine 2 has 200hp @ 7500. how much more torque would engine 1 have to have down low in order to be faster from 0-100 or down the quater given optimal gearing? My guess is that you would have to assume some pretty spastic looking torque curves for the 130hp to ever keep pace.

I was talking to boofhead & he is getting 90-100rwhp in his sedan with twin 40s & it was built buy the Feral. I think he put a post up a while ago.
200hp N/A A15 is acheivable but who would want to spend 20K on an a series to get all the nismo gear to make it happen. I would if i won Tats.
In the first post its not stated that he wants 100rwhp

People talk about bhp because it describes the amount of work that the engine's torque can do in a given period of time.

a 130bhp engine will never match the accelleration of a 170bhp engine in a similar car. For an engine to have enough torque down low to match the 170bhp @ 7500rpm, it would have to make (at least) 170bhp @"lower"rpm and be geared very very tall to compensate.

with all the talk of 200bhp going around, we must be talking turbos. Cheaply/Easily? Well, 1200rallycar's twin turbo EFI A15 produces 100bhp at the wheels after a couple of years of tuning and blowing things up.

Aye L18_B110, that's what i'm sayin - You might have a chance if your 130hp engine made that from 2500 rpm onwards but it would have a pretty improbable torque curve

Maybe I will throw away the 1400 and twin webbers and try this ..... I can only manage 89 RW HP Converted had 106 with his engine and it was considered quite good. Well, as you said - "When the flag drops ..."
