WOW - do we not think that keyboard rage is out of control here.
The red white & blue 1200 from Nerang is running around the same sort of figures as us as we have compared DYNOED torque figures of both cars.
AND these does NOT agree with the previously published figures from Vixen by any stretch of the imagination

Dear Harry, probably a good thing i don't know where you live as i don't take to kindly
to the litigious tripe you are so fond of applying to the poor people that have fallen out of your favour. Is this a result of not being as fast as a certain red white & blue
1200 coupe from Nerang powered by the humble 1400 a series engine, thus requiring
not one but two L series engines being transplanted into your car to finally arrest
your dilema, even though you moved classes
in doing so.I'm glad i am not going to Bathurst as i fear you have done irreprable damage to some reputations and poisioned
the young minds of others just entering the sport. In conclusion i would again recommend
to MAZTEC to PM Vixen to get a phone number where you can have a sensible conversation with a MOTOR ENGINEER.

Sorry for the advice which may be misleading Vixen - I kind of thought we may have been of assistance with the thread.
This was an estimated HP on the dyno (at the engine - if you spend much time on the dyno - you will know that an estimated engine hp is available and on this occasion it coincided with our flow bench results fairly closely). We were offering up the idea that 200hp was fairly difficult to obtain AND if you read the email you will see that I said that we took the route of less power for more torque (or at least in my mind I thought I said this) so that the car could pull out of corners on the track.
We rarely give techo advice or info on any forum nor get invloved in threads, but was basically agreeing with Harry, who knows us

the dreamland vortex that this thread has produced

Yeah, sorry I dont think I have helped here. some genuine experience from racing A-12's when my dad had a clubman-
Yes you can get some good numbers out of them, but the best we ever saw, (dyno proven) was 50kw at the treads at 4700rpm, before a valve broke and ended the session (we had some harsh words for the engine builder after that one- pre existing crack that he had not noticed, you could tell because there was carbon down half of the crack and fresh metal where it had finally given way). It had a good flat torque curve and pulled hard up to 7500 so 75+kw peak *may* have been possible- BUT thre is no way you could have street driven it - twin 45 dellortos and fuel econ to match. Never got more than a season out of an engine either, and had one expire mid season..... oil starvation to one of the big ends- a combination of crank design and possibly poor dry sump design, and or oil pressure. we never got it sorted out.
A12's were a good bit of gear for the 70's but dont expect the power, economy and durability of a more modern performance engine like a 4-AGE or swift GTI.
Anyone beg to differ?

Well...this is getting ugly isn't it !!!!

Like you R-Fast, I don't want to be drawn into a fiery depate. However, there is a lot of negative flak seemed to be directed at my buddy Greg (aka Vixen).

I'll just add this...Greg is a veteren amoung us who has worked many years for the factory datsun racing team. I guess its safe to say he knows a thing or too! Especially A12's. There are many people who are happy with the cars and engines he has produced.
