I blew my gearbox in my sedan reversing it off my hoist this morning.
So i am looking for a 63a 5spd. If any one has one it would be good. I am realy looking to buy one next year so im not in a big hurry.
So i think the A14 has a bit much grunt for it. But Im suprised it lasted this long.

Not in a hurry? How'd you blow a 'box when reversing off a hoist if you weren't in a hurry?

I'm just jealous that you have a hoist. . .

Yeah...

Why didn't you say:

''after returning from a day of marlin fishing, I then blow a box when reversing off a hoist, while my supermodel/bikini model wife was cooking me a seafood dinner, while at the same time the lottery people were delivering me my million dollar division 1 lotto win'

Either you muscled the selector/synchro rings to death or something was already fractured and that broken bit luckily fall into a gearpath that was spinning at some speed. These kind of mysteries are painful if unsolved.

Just thought I too would throw in a joke.

It started making noises when i was racing it at calder on cup eve. Then this morning when i backed it off my hoist so my supermodle wife could go off to work for her $1.000.000 bikini photo shoot (she has good taste in cars) the gear gox made a noise. Then she went to the end of the drive way. When taking off after opening the electric gates the gearbox blew.
I think its broken the input shaft.
Thought i would ad to he joke

Does this mean that you just need to rebuild it once you have another input shaft.
Exactly which model gearbox do you need the input shaft for as I have some spares in my workshop.

no i dont have electric gates
i want to upgrade to 63a 5spd
i have a 56a 4spd wich i must say has done a great job for the amount of power that has been put through it.
It made a noise when i backed out of my workshop then i went to go foward gently cos it was cold & it BROKE. Just too much twisting force i gess.

my original 56a 4spd died the same way. i was about to reverse it up the road and onto the hoist, as soon as i let slide the clutch, it broke and sounded like glass breaking! was cold too. i towed it up the street and put it on the hoist and put in the 60a gearbox, which eventually was found to be foobarred, due to excess noise in all gears.

this 60a gearbox is in pieces in a box in my garage if u get really needy of a 5 speed. like i said it made nasty noises. bearings replaced recently.

I stripped the box down last night & found the rear bearing on the cluster shaft colapsed. I will post some pics up later.
