Yeah..Matty is on the money.

Don't get the turbo I did It's too big. Missing a lot of midrange. I've got the GT28 with 0.7 front housing and 0.86 rear. I bumped the boost up to 10 psi by preloading the adjustable wastegate actuator, and it's more fun now.

A low k's S15 turbo would be a good one to use. The Disco Potato if you like a little lag.

thanks mate. a couple of other people have also suggested the disco patato. this may sound like a stupid question but how much lag we talking about?

I wouldn't bother with the DP unless you are going the whole hog i.e. cams, programmable injection, forgies etc. But to answer your question full boost should around the 4000rpm mark give or take 200rpm. This turbo was designed for the SR20DET. I'm not saying don't do it but unless you're after big horsepower you would be better off with a slightly smaller snail.

The GT28BB or 200SX T28 (very similar turbos) will make 150 - 170rwkw on 15psi with basic mods (exhaust, intercooler, chip). This is plenty in an 800kg car for most people and the boost will come in alot earlier.

It might be worth having a chat on nissansilvia.com but be prepared to sort through alot of bullshit........

I have been through all this myself in the past 18 months. I settled on the GTi-R T28 and it is currently making 141rwkw at 10psi. In hindsight I wish I had bought the GT28BB. But your needs may be different. I love circuit racing and at the track I race at the less laggy turbo would be beneficial.
Regards Matty

As per my turbo above. No real boost below 4200. managed 128kW@7psi. I reckon somewhere in 140kW@10psi which I'm now running.

I reckon disco potato with the 0.63 rear housing. My advice for the CA18det, NEVER get the 0.86 housing.

My car is very sedate at the moment. You drive it around, and it feels like nothing special, unless you get a clear freeway onramp or open road. You feel like changing gears before any more than 3psi boost is seen when driven carefully. You need the boost curve lower to 'encourage you to give it some' in every gear.

Even crappy cars blow me off at lights, not that I've been trying hard. I could probably get them if I dropped the clutch at 5000 revs, and appeared like I had no respect for: the law; my license; or the long term life of my car.

There's the truth for you.

yeah when I heard disco potatoe I was like WTF? but the best bang for buck is an S15 T28 even if you can't get the BB version the bush bearing version is almost as good. There is a huge difference in the top end (but thats becuase of the bigger exhaust and compressor a/r and bigger trims) the stock T25 runs out of puff to early and you can feel it.

The only mods I had to do to fit it to a stock manifold was elongate the top dump pipe holes and slightly rotate the housings.

if u want quick power s15 turbo is the way 2 go and if u have enough money go for a hks GT2530 very punchy low - midrange turbo ideal for tyre streadn fun
i went for the 450hp Gt25 and it has .86 rear and is laggy but makes big power when comes on boost at like 4grand and is more ideal for a built motor with mods,
