I am really regretting having to do this now that I finally finished the engine, but I injured my leg pretty badly and have decided to pack up and go traveling around Australia for a while with my family
Alrighty you all probably know I bought Converted's old A series motor back when he sold it in the big sale along with some other bits, so heres a basic run down.
It's a Datsun A15 engine with a list of engine modifications like,
New Bearings and Seals
11.5:1 Compression
JTS Alloy Head
Race Spec Valve Stem Seals
Double Valve Springs
54/86 Camshaft
Bosch High Rev Alternator
Perfectly Matched Twin Weber Carburettors (No Flat Spots, super Responsive)
Brand New 4 Into 1 Thermal Wrapped Extractors
Brand New High Energy Ignition System Consisting of a Bluebird Series 2 High Energy Electronic Distributor with Bosch HEC 715 Matched Coil, 8.0mm Leads and NGK BP5ES Spark Plugs
Brand New Facet Blue Electronic Fuel Pump into Holley Fuel Pressure Regulator
also in the deal is a reconditioned lancer brake booster ready to fit to a datsun 1200
asking $2700 for the complete engine and brake booster, Zane. Bunbury WA 0405 260 579 Open in new window

Thats a shame Zane, I was really looking forward to see the engine scream in your car. Hope you get better too, that injury sounds nasty.

what can you rev an engine like that to?

i have heard that people have built a series motors to rev to 9 grand that seems a reasonable price, but i don't have that much money to spend at the moment.

alrighty I have advertised on ozdat but am waiting for the add to be accepted and I advertised on datnet here http://www.datnet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6846

when I spoke to craig about this motor he said it makes over 100hp per litre of displacement which is pretty good in anyones sense and I believe the engine could rev to 9000rpm but I was only planning to rev it to 8000rpm if I installed it just to give my self a buffer in case I missed a gear

yeah 8k is plenty...the power drops off at 7400 rpm...so no use revving it much past that.

9-10k revs are quite possible in an A series, but youd want to make sure that you change your main bearing cap bolts after every race meeting...cause the stretch and are prone to fracturing.
Yes this engine made 106rwhp which would be around 150hp pretty much on the 100hp/litre Zane is quoting.
