I mentioned this once before. A story my uncle told me who is a an engine reconditioner. They built and a15 for this guy. He had custom forged pistons and rods. Good rod bolts, headstuds and head gasket. Shotpeened crank, o-ringed block and my cousin did the headwork. Massive valves, double valve springs and alot of hours playing around with the flow numbers. Supercharged, fuel injected with a carefully thought out cam. To end the story it ran a 12.7/ (sorry cant remember mile an hour) Lots of dollars though but i think this proves the A-series worthy.

For a Datsun 1200 with A14/A15 engine, say 1660 pounds. 150 pound driver (total: 1810 pounds). 120 gross HP which is maybe 90 rwhp, the calculator says estimated ET of 15.8 seconds. For 120 rwhp, it's 14.4 seconds.

Here's some 1/4 miles times. Seems Ron in Hawaii is now running a KA24(?) turbo running at 11.9 seconds. Compare that to a mild na KA24DE at a reported 13.99.

Those engines are twice as big as an A12.

With a drag 1200 ute you could run in to the 9.90 zone with as little as 360hp flywheel.
