Yep that's another thing I noticed, it's more like driving a car now instead of a truck. First gear was close to unneccesary before the swap. It may be all in my head (haven't researched to see if the 1st ratios are actually different) but it feels like a lot more usefull acceleration. Maybe I'm just trying to sell myself on my desicion to swap?

True - I hardly ever use 1st gear in my car with a 4 speed. Remembering that I have this fitted into an Austin Healey Sprite that weigh's bugger all... so there is not much weight to shift.
Man... now I'm leaning back towards fitting a 5 speed...

Sprite is about 1500 pounds

Ahhhh... we are not going to get into an argument about vehicle weights are we? Gordon Murray sees the benefit in any weight loss, be it 1% or 10%

just a quick question about 5 speeds. i picked up 1 several months ago, i have no idea wat sorta 5speed it is, how do i tell apart from putting it in gear. is there any visible signs???, it has had a bracket mnade up so it can be bolted up, if that helps at all. also when i fit the 5speed, do i need 2 get it engineered???, its for NSW.

went over the box 2 day and found a 60 on the edge, nothing else just 60. are these a good box???

Yes, thats a 60-series transmission. It will handle the torque of an A15 or A14.

A bit of an update - picked up my 5 speed and slightly worked a14 on Saturday - turns out that it's a 63A 5 speed that was rebuilt a few years ago but never used
