A bit of an update - picked up my 5 speed and slightly worked a14 on Saturday - turns out that it's a 63A 5 speed that was rebuilt a few years ago but never used

i have installed one 56a 5 speed dogleg in my 120y and the differences are not in the 5th gear, i think the gengine gets almost the same rotation.

the dogleg gearbox is better in the lost of power between the gears , mostly between 2 to 3.

the bad points in this gearbox is the noise and the loose feeling of the gearnob.
i dont know if my language is clear.!!! sorry

I've never heard of someone mention anything to do with the feel of the actual gear shift changing for the worst - I love the rifle-bolt action of the 4-speed... I hope I don't lose it when/if I put in the 5-speed.

How much did you get the 63A for??
They are a nice piece of kit...you will be happy with it for quite a number of years and no normally aspirated A series will go close to breaking it.

All up including the A14... $700.

...and please note that both the engine and gearbox have been freshly rebuilt.

Dang that's a good bargain!

They are around these bargains....just not too often.

Well done on the purchase, a score indeed!
