hey guys

I am trying to figuer out why my A15 is doing this, but whenever i try to start it the engine will sound like it is running properly and once you release the key from the start position it just dies. It is doing this with both my Hiatachi and my weber. Would anyone know what may be causing this. At the moment although the alternator is on the car it has not been wired up as of yet. Would this effect this problem.

I have also taken out all the old electrical harness and set up for a 32/36 so there are no more electrical connections going to the carby, so when i tried putting my old carby on again i had no plugs for it or anything. Would this effect how this would run.

I know its a lot to answer but i would appreciate any help

cheers andrew

it sounds like an electrical problem.

If the car does not run at all with the key in the normal driving position,

see if you have any electricity at the positive coil terminal (with the key in ignition on position) its most likely that you don't.

You see, when you are cranking the engine, the electricity going to the coil goes through a different wire.( a black/red wire)

If this proves to be correct you need to find out if the black/white wire going to the coil is continous alll the way to the ignition switch.

thats awesome thanks mate. I just checked and your right i am not getting power to the coil in the on position, only the start position. I will try to trace back that wire and find what is causing the problem. a few days ago we re-wired the whole car and put in all new relays so hopefully it wont be too hard to trace back

cheers
