I'm just about to join the poverty line! I can tell you it's been a hell of a stretch.

Ourplan this year is to compete in all 6 rounds of the state series, but there will be very little development money to throw at the car - so now it's a matter of tuning what we have to best effect for this year.

Fingers crossed we have made some good decisions.

Mark, Can you please send me a seed from that money tree you have growing out the back.

I hope you do get some good improvements to reward all of your efforts.

Hey Dodgeman....Some guys have tried scribing "swirl's" in to the restrictors to get the air to spin, but it has not had any effect from all reports.

We have changed sooooo many bits on the car since the last time we ran it, so it's going to be hard to tell where the improvements (if any) come from. Since our last race meeting in September last year we have;

Rebuilt the head with new cams
Freshened up the bottom end
Added a crankcase breather
Removed the intercooler
Added a new gearbox
New Turbo
New Restrictor
New airBox
New air filter
New Front suspension
New brake caliper brackets
+ other small incidentals.

It's been a busy 5 months - I'm just hoping we get some good increases - both in power, engine response and handling.

Mark.

Do you have some idea how fast the air swirls as it passes through the restrictor?
Since air has mass, I'm thinking that if it swirls fast enough, can it form a void, or cavity in the center as it passes through the smallest part of the restrictor, in the same way that centrifugal force causes a void in the water as it swirls down the plug hole.
If this effect is even a remote possibility, then spinning up the air in the airbox before it enters the restrictor could only make this worse, particularly if it spins up fairly fast.
Just a thought.

Phunk.....it's very similar to a plenum. Essentially we have one trumpet (restrictor) attached to the front of the turbo. With this set-up the shaping of the trumpet can work to it's best effect, and still have cool filtered air.

Nothing gets past you guys!

I am hoping (expecting) the air to swirl inside the barrell - we know the air spins when it goes through the restrictor, so my theory is that with a round airbox, the efect might start a little earlier, and hopefully help flow through the restrictor.

Hmmmm, the old water swirling in a bottle theory again 99.
Should be good with a 34 mm restrictor.
