I have been told that a Stanza Crossmember bolts into the sunny chassis rails, then the L20B motor bolts straight in?? Can anyone tell me if this is true?
I have an L20B, twin webbers, cam, extractors, 5speed sitting on the ground, jusy need to know how to bolt in??

actually I have heard that the ENTIRE undercarriage of a Stanza fits under a Sunny... engine, gearbox, crossmember, tailshaft, diff but the only problem is that a L20B won't fit as it is too high/tall....
L14s (if you can find one...)-L18s fit fine...
this is 2nd hand info.... I have always wanted to do a L18 into a (B210) 120Y so I never got all the info.... However I have my eye on a pair of Sunny's for the same reason as you...

I did this conversion. You need a to cut out the middle section of the xmember to accomodate the sump. It will then require extensive reinforcing. You'll need a bluebird sump too. I lowered the motor so far that the sump hit the drag link. a bluey sump has more or less the shape you'll neeed. I found this out after moddifying my sump to fit.

use the stanza sump & oil pick up,& it'll clear the stanza sump.i've done it on an l18 into a sunny,& i was able to lower & move the engine back by about 10 mm without hitting the crossmember.plus theres still room under the bonnet to fit an l20b without any cutting.the main problem was the oil filter now hitting the engine bracket, but using a standard 1200 filter gave it enough room,& i already had a spare in the cupboard.you also need the stanza front swaybar,& while you're out there see if you can find a stanza rear bar.some cars have them & they usually only want $20 for it,including mounting brackets.

Its actually a bluebird block... The motor is in a stanza at the moment, so hopefully the filter wont be a problem??
I did this conversion into a 1200 years ago and had the oil pump hit the sway bar, would this still be a problem?

I fitted a stanza cross member and suspension into my 81 sunny coupe with L20B and stanza sump pickup. The only problem I had was the rocker hitting the bonnet ( a little massagaing with ball pein hammer fixed that). There was problem with radius rods though. You have to use the sunny radius rods from memory as the stanza ones are longer.
I just fitted a stanza H165 rear end complete as well.

if you have clearance issues with the oil filter on the engine mount, you can just cut the corner of the mount off with a hacksaw or angle grinder.
A better way, if your block has provision for it (I think the L20B's do) is to get the 90 degree elbow to mount the filter upright alongside the block. I think they came off Stanzas - or it might have been Bluebird. Not too sure now - too long ago. if your block has 4 tapped holes around where the filter goes, you can fit the elbow.

Yea it allready has the 90deg elbow with the filter pointing upwards if I remember correctly.
With the diff Errol, was it a direct bolt in, or did you have to chop the mounts up, and what about the track??
