Every Datsun 1200 ute will have B120 on the plate & 1000 utes will have B20. This is how they left the factory
Now, lets go to question No....
1. The wheel travel will be determined by the distance to the suspension stops. Lowered vehicles will have less suspension travel than stock height ones. You will need to measure the ute that you have to come up with the answer.
2. Brake force? This will be determined by the speed, the load you are carying, the available distance & the urgency of the situation. This is really an impossible question to answer without knowing ALL of the variables, then testing it.
3. The amount of brake fluid in the system? Are you kidding? Just buy a 500ml container of it & keep pouring it in 'till it's full like the rest of us do. Why would anyone need to know this? The actual volume is greater with worn brake linings/pads & machined drums/rotors & less with new ones.
4. Diffs? Datsun 1200 ute, early,.. reported to be H145 in 4.11 to 1 ratio. Later models ['74 onwards] H165 in 4.11 to 1 ratio.
Datsun 1000 ute,.. H145 in 4.375 to 1 ratio with a 4.625 to 1 ratio as an option.
5. To get the actual production numbers, you will need to contact Nissan in Japan. I'm sure they will be glad to help.
6. Datsun 1000 ute tray size, [inside measurement], is 1,535mm [length] x 1,230mm [width] x 380mm [height] I do not have the 1200 ute dimentions.
Why is this important anyway?
7. Axle length? I don't know, but as long as it is the correct axle for the rear end that you are using, who cares, just as long as it fits & works.
8. Weight variation between what & what? 1200 & 1000 models? A clear question gets a clearer answer.
1000 utes are 615Kg, ex factory.
9. Tailshaft variations? Again, between what & what. All the 1000's used one length driveshaft & the 1200 ute would have used one shaft for H145 diff models, & a slightly longer one for H165 diff models. You will need to actually measure them for accurate dimentions, the same as others do when they need to know.
10. Driveshaft weight. Sorry, I would need to weigh one to know. Why is this important anyway?
11. Interior differences. 1200 ute, early. They came as a standard model with the same basic interior as the standard sedan. Often with no radio, & only one sun visor.
1200 ute, late. Dash is like the 1200 coupe with round instruments. The later the model, the better the interior.
Datsun 1000 ute. Bare bones standard only. Small dash pad [like the '67 model]. Very little interior trim, painted dash with basic 1000 instrument panel.
12. Interior materials? Predominantly steel, plastic & vinyl.
13. Dash styles? See answer 11.
14. Bakelite was not used in these small Datsun models as far as I can tell. Bakelite pretty much went out in the 50's.
15. Factory air in a small Datsun ute? [LOL] Strictly aftermarket stuff in Australia, so the brand names will vary.
Now to the second batch. You want to know about the various steels for hardening purposes?
A. A factory specified grade of mild steel.
B. A factory specified grade of cast iron. [Not soft grey iron.]
C. A factory specified grade of steel. The A series cranks are forgings & are pretty tough.
D. The diff housing will be a factory specified grade of mild steel I believe [Jap rear axle housings]
You will not need to change the hardness of any of these as the factory figured out the right hardness forty years ago.
I would say that in four weeks you have got an awfull lot of help under the circumstances when you consider that some of your posts are very hard to read & make sense of.
If you have a 1000 ute that is bent, then get your panel shop boss to e-mail me & I will send him a factory chassis diagram
