I should have made clear, I was talking stock 4 speed in a 1600 is the same length.

right... that is interesting

from pics ive seen of stanza boxs, they look like they mount in the same place, but they definatly look shorter

so any one else got anything to add

I dont believe there is any difference. Although I have a stumpy box which i just took out of my 1600. It mounted to the same place, came through the same hole and had the same length tailshaft.

just wondering if any one knew wat the actual size (length) difference between a sss stanxa 5 speed (or stumpy skyline box) and a normal L series 4 speed (say L20B 4 speed), or if anyone has a comparison pic between the 2.
or a pic of where the gearstick is in relation to the standard gearstick hole

im to poor at the moment to go hunting for gearboxs for my 1200, so i want to see if i can get an idea of the difference so i can try to fit the L series in
