Here's the story,
I finished the carb and fuel pump upgrade on my 1200. Despite that being the only thing I did, It went from going to not going. Doing a bit of fault finding I deduced there was spark coming out of the coil, but not back out of the dizzy. The rotor looked a bit grotty, so I bought a new one. No difference. So I figured I'd get a new cap too. (I also disovered that there was no continuity between the carbon pin, and the bit where the HT lead from the coil plugs in)
So I rock down to the parts shop. They sell me a bosh GH604. This doesn't fix it. The old cap has a mitsubishi logo on it. (Three dimonds) I take it back. I stand around for about 20 mins while they paw over their parts book. Seems there was a mitsi cap used on early A14's. (In round headlight B310 140Y's) The part number was X (something) ninety (something)
after visiting numerous parts suppliers, they tried to tell me that the bosch GH604 crosses over and is the correct part. The "H" means hitachi. But that bit doesn't fix it. (it does fit the dizzy body though) So in desperation, I pulled out the carbon pin, cleaned out the hole on both side with wet and dry, and got another pin from another old cap ( the pin in my misti cap was very worn down, and stubby) and got it to fire.
Thing being this, the contacts inside this cap are fair worn, and this is at best a short term solution. (There's drags on sunday and I'm itching to run) But what the hell am I going to do?
Someone shed some light for me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
