With the E-series 1200 engine. This is just like the one we used to have (except for color), with 4-speed column shift.

I'm picking one up but the '64 N320 model are they any good? dont know much about them and there's not much around and sites for info.
Can an A14 be easily drop in like in the 1200 ute? would prefer to change the column to floor though

I really like those NL models. The cab and pickup bed meet each other very nicely. There's no big gaps between them like the regular model. The slanted taillights are a nice touch, too.

haha, there's no gaps because it is a true coupe utility, a one piece body. Just like the newer 1200 ute, or an El Camino.
Yes, I think they are good vehicles. But they are rather crude compared to the B120 Datsun 1200. I like their character and they are reliable. It has a full frame, and probably wouldn't go over 100 kph ... but then an A14 would perk it up. I'd like to have one if I had the room in the driveway for it.

These are a bigger vehicle overall than the B series of Datsuns that we all love, so it would probably take an L20B swap without too much drama.
This is a good conversion as L20B's with five speeds should be plentifull & cheap. They are strong reliable engines & will haul this little hauler around quite nicely. What a bargain.

my veery 1st car was a 1962 L320 p.u.(separate bed) Imanaged to squezze in an A14 w\ 4speed on the floor, had to modify oil pan for steering link, not too bad tho. it has tosion bar susp. I don't think an L engine would fit without some "metal" work, but the A motor really woke that truck up! it is a very small engine compartment, but you can put a V-8 in , if you really wanted to...

HAHA! That's funny I never noticed that. No wonder I like the fit and finish so much ![]() I'd love to have one of those, but I'm not so sure I would fit in it. I suspect the ride is very bumpy as well.
