I just got a ute with an a14 running twin 40mm webers, and it runs alright, it idles, has a bit of a flat spot then revs fine, but it dribbles petrol out the throats, and sprays petrol out when its revved. Anyone know what the problem might be? I havnt looked inside them yet.
cheers,
Tyrie

What size chokes are you running?.... you dont wnat much than 32 or 34mm..... any bigger you will need a wild Aseires to run correct. could be any number of jets or air correctors that are too big.

Check the float is not pin holed and has some fuel leaked into it. Then check float levels.

I have twin side draft dellortos on my ute, they are only to take 3 or 4 psi fuel pressure, check out the pressure of your fuel pump, electric?

On that topic i just aquired a set of twin 40mm dellortos and was wondering what is the std. fuel pressure for an A15 mechanical fuel pump? 3ish Psi? What do these carbs need to run properally without leaning out?
The utes got an electric fuel pump already connected to it so im unsure of the fuel pressure anyway, so i may go back to the mechanical one or is there a way to check?
Cheers Dave

You can keep the Electirc fuel pump thats not problem. The Mech pump goes much higher than 3psi depending on RPM. What You need is a fuel Regulator for your Carbs, so you can keep a constant fuel pressure supplied to them and not blow the needles of thier seats in the Twin Carbs. My regulator is set to 3psi which is about right some have it slighty higher or slighty lower.

I'll check floats, dont know why I didnt think of that myself...
its still get a mechanical pump, but it looks kind of big. Maybe its a bigger pump for some reason.

Yes, when doing *any* work on a carb, first check the float level. Quote: The Mech pump goes much higher than 3psi depending on RPM. How do you figure? The stock A-series fuel pumps are about 3-3.5 pounds, and it doesn't increase with RPM, it is regulated by a spring in the pump. By contrast, some electric pumps put out far more pressure, though some are low pressure.
