copper "loctite" is a good thing to put on exhausts joints. its meant to stand up to the heatand if you put a bit of that on each side of the gasket then you should be home and hosed.

You mean the copper spray called Hylomar? The stuff you spray on head gaskets?

if it's not specifically for use in a high temp exhaust enviroment it's a bad choice, and that copper stuff is for use with a gasket, like ahead gasket.
if you just use the exhaust gasket material it'll work fine.
