I had a very similar problem on my 120Y... It turned out to be the ground wire on the combination plug being a bit 'iffy'. $10 with an electrician and the this was perfect again. Hope this helps !

9 out of 10 times it's the "dash voltage regulator" a small device usually on the back of the gauge cluster, now if it is only one gauge, perhaps bad ground, or sending unit,
but if both gauges are not working , then the regulator.

sometimes capaitors go bad too and make the speedo bounce at certain speeds.

Check the voltage regulator.
