I'm going to go with the crowd but then add......

Why would any of us bother going to all the trouble of fitting CA18's with all the messing around, if it was only going to keep up with VS commodores!

Datto 4 sure! Holden 'fans' will disagree, but most standard efi 304's are slugs! So much weight to push around. A worked a15 will give them a good run if not beat them, so the CA will kick ass.

Same can be said about the new Ford V8's, with no torque till around 4400 rpm they are worse than a laggy turbo. (But I'm biased liking both Datsuns and turbos).

I must confess. I own a couple of v8 fords, and you are right. But the thing that makes the datsun better is the fact that it will beat the v8 whilst under massive traction loss and with a fantastic screaming of a nissan motor at high rpm!

Although the CA18 would lunch even my XR6T off the line....the XR6T can be made to go quicker. Just costs a whole lot more.

There's an $8500 mod kit for the XR6T that delivers 340rwkw...now that's a lot of power. Good for somewhere in the 12's, maybe 11's.

I can dream...

You can make a datsun that goes nearly as good for the price of the mod, although i am envious, i would like a xr6t

Yeah its a nice car for a daily driver...on lease, so can't risk doing those sort of mods yet. Little quieter in the cabin than my 1200.
