Although the CA18 would lunch even my XR6T off the line....the XR6T can be made to go quicker. Just costs a whole lot more.

There's an $8500 mod kit for the XR6T that delivers 340rwkw...now that's a lot of power. Good for somewhere in the 12's, maybe 11's.

I can dream...

I must confess. I own a couple of v8 fords, and you are right. But the thing that makes the datsun better is the fact that it will beat the v8 whilst under massive traction loss and with a fantastic screaming of a nissan motor at high rpm!

Same can be said about the new Ford V8's, with no torque till around 4400 rpm they are worse than a laggy turbo. (But I'm biased liking both Datsuns and turbos).

Datto 4 sure! Holden 'fans' will disagree, but most standard efi 304's are slugs! So much weight to push around. A worked a15 will give them a good run if not beat them, so the CA will kick ass.

I'm going to go with the crowd but then add......

Why would any of us bother going to all the trouble of fitting CA18's with all the messing around, if it was only going to keep up with VS commodores!

i have raced in a standard VS HSV senator with 6 spd manual and a 205kw (standard) motor. got a best of 14.7.

i raced my datto 1600 with a bog stock no extra boost and a slipping clutch CA18det and ran a best of 14.3

i've heard of 1200's with standard ca's dipping into the thirteen's, my wagon with a few bolt ons and a bit of boost ran a 12.6 with three goes needed to get into fourth gear.

i would bet both my testicles AND my first and second born on the datto!

Go the dato every day of the week a standard 1200 with ca should run straight into the 12s then add turbo, then say hello to 11s well thats what im hoping for anyway.
But since i have a ca ute im very biased!
