...almost

The real truth is:

http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/m/macpherson_strut1

http://www.answers.com/topic/macpherson-strut

Earle S. MacPherson, inventor of the MacPherson Strut front suspension, who was Ford VP-Engineering in those days.

Darn Aussie BS artists...Could have been a close relative I suppose.

Seems old Kevin doesn't have the internet on at home yet..

So is the bloke callled Kevin Macpherson going around telling people he invented it?

If so that's hilarious! I suppose it may help with sales, after all, he fooled homer!

I'd probably believe him too

All you have to do is supply him with measurements and he will do the rest.
I think its a little strange that a guy who has a little factory in the outskirts of sydney has invented so much technoligy for suspension componants. oh well some people have great brains

I made mine from off-cuts found at a scrap metal yard, and paid a metal fab place $30 to water cut the plates to my dimensions.

didn't notice the slightest difference after fitting it.

from memory k mac suspension does not claim to have invented the macpherson suspension design, but has been consulted to refine it many a time....

I think the main benefit of a strut brace would be to stop the strut towers bending/warping when been worked hard. Lots of Falcon taxis were fitted with them as the strut towers would start to cave towards themselves giving unwanted negative camber and other steering problems.

ahh righto the reason I ask is I had a '94 model commodore when I was 18 (8 years ago) and had a whole new suspension set up put in. It consisted of new king springs, whiteline swaybars, whiteline panhard rod, K-mac camber kit on front struts, nolathane bushings everywhere, front and rear hard gas shocks and a nolathane strut tower bar. This made the vehicle extremely agile and an absolute joy to drive.
This is why I am trying to get all the parts together to enhance my 1200 sedan as good as it could be, so far I have king springs for the front and back, complete nolathane bushings kit, 120Y struts, disc brakes and sway bar, inch and a half lowering blocks for the back (not that I will need them...late night impulse buying decision on ebay!) and to finish it off I will replace any worn steering components (probably all of them), Sunny lower control arms, Noltec adjustable strut tops and a stut tower bar.
I will also rebuild the calipers and fit new discs as well as replace wheel bearings
I guess I could have got carried away a bit with this upgrade but it
s all good fun
