Cheap(well sort of, some are fetching some decent prices), interchangeabilty of parts from other datsun models. Style. A small car that actually looks good, unlike the late model buzz bombs, Rear wheel drive. Weight which makes for good speed and good handling without big dollar parts.

Yep, the things that may my 1200 better than my 1000's:

More engine swap options,
More brake/strut options.

...but I still reckon the 1000's rock to, just because they're cool

I think you hit it right on the head!! interchangeability of parts, light weight bodys and also later model engines which are an easy bolt in! Plus they are better than Corollas... the more dattos i get, the more I want!!! Cheers. Adam.

they are cheap to buy and cheap to fix and the light waigt makes for cheap power

I'm just curious to why you long time 1200 owners think our cars are great platform to own. I know their pretty lightweight and parts interchangeability with other vintage datsuns... but what else? I see alot more of 510s on the road and I dont think I have seen any other 1200s here in Southern California as of yet...

Can you guys give me the breakdown why you guys love your car and why you think our cars are superior to some of the other models out there? Just trying to learn more about the pros and cons...
