hahahahha cheers phil ,im glad that your staying tuned to all the goings ons ,
hopefully ill have more updates soon ,
this grill is really taking alot of time out form everything else i have to do ,but id like to get it finished so can move on to something else,
yeah a hard cover would look good ,if i can get one at a fair price it may be an option??
anyone want to offer one???????

Evilbetty.........all i can say is you are no spraypainter your an artist and have given me alot of ideas not to mention inspiration to get my 1000 ute under way. Thanks for all the progress shots, there awsome!!

well only a small update this weekend but none the less its more progress......

remember these struts???..........

well i did manage to find a set of 120y front struts complete,small story here
the struts i got were in good condition nothing like that last picture,they even had pedders gas inserts in them,but before i discovered that i had to remove the nut that holds the insert in ,first one was a piece of cake,came off not a problem ,however the second didnt go so well!!!!!! the nut that hold the shock in snaped clean off the threading that it was attached too!!!!!! after banging around a bit i still couldnt get the thread and the shock out ,so my boss came to the rescue and welded the nut back on and some how managed to remove it and the shock with out any damage !!!!! stoked so the next steps........

here we have the new struts completely stripped and waiting the almighty paint stripper!!!!!!!!

well its just about finished,the grill i mean ,been working on this for 3 weeks now on and off,i should have it completed tomorrow so definatley keep an eye for updates, but as a quick recap this is where we are at with it>>>>>
this is where i started with a very ruff not so atractive grill......

and then i choped out the centre and sanded the frame all up and got it in primer,,,,,,,,

after a very long time,alot of measureing ,cuting sanding ,fitting removing fitting again removing and finaly getting it to work i came up with this.........

then finished off the grills with a complete polishing ,by machine and by hand then the assembly process,......

and then the frame painting,
first i masked off the black that had been previously painted,

then the set up in the booth...

and next i got in to the painting,first there is 2 coats of silver base layed down.....

next i had to go thru the painted process of applying 6 coats of custom pearl colour,
this took a while to cover as this colour is very see thru,but gives a great effect once completed..............

and next we are 5 coats later!!!/.......

and finally the clear coats on and whola a nice shinny new frame ,i have to say its looks really good ,im happy how it came up ,what do you guys think??????
hope fully tomorrow you will see the final product but till then these are all the shots i have ............
